

She was born on September 4, 1954, in Salt Lake City to Reinhard Lawrence and Edeltraud.
Karen is survived by her children: Cameron Stewart (former spouse, Heather Barker; children, August and Kaia), Mark Stewart (Tiffany Johnson; children, Justin Hurst and Ashton Stewart), John Rasmussen (Kiley; children, Cooper, Rex, and Elleanor), and Jeff Rasmussen (Kaila; children, Beau, Lukas, Oliver, and Isaak).
She is also survived by her parents and her siblings: Jeanie Pettit (late husband, John Pettit), Christine and Gail Andrus, Robert and Wendy Lawrence, David and Shirley Lawrence, Mark Lawrence, Jeffery Lawrence, Launa and Scott Helton, Emily Lawrence, and Rebecca Ballstaedt.
Karen was preceded in death by her grandparents, Franz and Maria Lawrence, and Hans and Charlotte Singer, as well as her former husband, Paul Keith Rasmussen.
Karen grew up in Salt Lake City and graduated from Granite High School. She built a respected career as an Engineering Support Specialist, where her dedication and strong work ethic made her a valued member of her team.
Above all, Karen was deeply devoted to her family. She was passionate about her sons and grandchildren, always encouraging them to work hard, be respectful, and “return with honor.” Known for her sharp wit and sense of humor, Karen loved making people laugh and giving those she loved a hard time—always in fun and with a twinkle in her eye. She enjoyed relaxing with her favorite crime drama series and cherished every moment spent with her loved ones.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 20, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 S Highland Drive, Millcreek, Utah 84106.
Karen will be remembered for her warmth, humor, strength, and unwavering love for her family.
