She was born on January 27, 1951, in Logan, Utah to Kathryn Campbell Egelund and Leonard Egelund. She attended Logan High School, graduating in 1969. She earned her B.A. in Social Work and Art at the University of Denver, in 1975 and later completed her Master's in Social Work (MSW) at the University of Utah, in 1983.
Not many people knew that one of Kathleen's first interests was art. She was an accomplished abstract artist. One of the best gifts to get from her was a pencil drawing.
She became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and held several professional positions at levels of management, leadership, and direct clinical services, in Utah and Virginia.
Kathleen enjoyed the outdoors. She played golf for many years and was a member of the LPGA at Ford's Colony Country Club. Being an avid gardener allowed her to share much of her bountiful produce and flowers with neighbors and friends. She was fond of animals and had a delightful canine companion named Maddie, her apricot miniature poodle.
Kathleen will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her best friend, Ann Marie Boyden, and her parents. She is survived by her brother, William (Bill) Egelund, and his wife Jo Egelund with her two nephews, Garret Egelund-Hunting and Clayton Egelund of West Haven, Utah.
A celebration of life will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2017 Newman Rd., Williamsburg, Virginia on Friday, February 9th, at 11:00 am.
The Egelund Family would like to thank the Huntsman Cancer Center for their care of Kathleen and all of her neighbors for their love and care.
Charitable donations may be made in Kathleen C. Egelund's name to Avalon Center, in Williamsburg, VA.
