

Kathlyn (Kathi) Garff-Thayne died February 14th, 2021 ending her battle with Alzheimer's disease. Born September 23, 1939 in Butte Montana to G. Lynn Garff and Kathlyn (Kay) Farrell Garff. Kathlyn grew up in Salt Lake City but spent many years living abroad in Guam, Taiwan and Hong Kong. Kathlyn went on to have a successful career with the FDIC while living in Dallas, TX. Upon retirement she moved back home to Salt Lake City where she met her husband Michael Shirl Thayne. Kathlyn was an active member in the LDS church and enjoyed spending time painting, learning new languages and spending time doing art projects and going on adventures with her grandchildren.
Kathlyn is survived by her son Jody Bailey, daughter-in-law Kyria Bailey, grandchildren Parker Bailey and Spencer Bailey, step-children Michael Blair Thayne and Alisyn Thayne-Wallace. Preceded in death by her parents, and husband Michael Shirl Thayne. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the research for a cure to Alzheimer's. Private family funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2021, 11 am at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 E. 1300 S. Friends may call one hour prior to services. Interment at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery at 3401 Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, 84106. The services will also be available via Zoom at:
