SALT LAKE CITY, UT – Keith Norman Johnson, 84, our father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 28, 2014 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Keith was born August 19, 1930 in Salt Lake City, Utah to John Ivan and Veva Andrea Hansen Johnson. Keith married his eternal sweetheart Verona Rigby in the Salt Lake Temple on June 19, 1953. They were blessed with 5 wonderful children, 20 grandchildren, and 33 great-grandchildren.
Keith graduated from West High School and graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelors degree in business. He served a three year LDS mission in Denmark. He served in the United States Army from 1954-56. Keith served faithfully in many LDS church callings during his lifetime including Bishop of the Millcreek 1st Ward. In his later years, he was Executive Secretary and took great joy in caring for the up keep of the 2nd Ward building. Keith worked in the family business at Utah Pie Company, managed Litza’s Pizza for 20 years, and owned Viva Verona’s restaurant in Holladay. Upon retirement Keith and Verona served an LDS mission in the Kirtland, Ohio Historical Sites Mission.
Survived by wife Verona, children Eileen (Devin) Smith, Steven (Rose Marie), Gary (Kathy), Robyn (Will) Wright, Wendy (Kent) Whiting; brother, Floyd (Verla). Preceded in death by his parents; siblings Harold, Grant (Norma), Louise, Richard, and Dorothy.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM, Wednesday September 3, 2014, at the LDS chapel, 4220 S. Jeannine Drive SLC, UT. A viewing will be held Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at Wasatch Lawn, 3401 Highland Drive, and Wednesday morning prior to the service 9:30-10:45AM.
