LaRae Nobbs Bagshaw was born on April 8th, 1934 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was the second daughter of Gilbert Clarence Nobbs and Thelma Tate Nobbs. She passed away peacefully with her son by her side on November 1, 2023, in Bountiful, Utah.
LaRae's journey through life was marked by a deep sense of faith, love, and service. LaRae attended and graduated from East High School in Salt Lake City. She married James Russell Bagshaw on August 15, 1952, and they were later divorced. Throughout her life, LaRae lived in San Luis Obispo, California; Germany; Denver, Colorado; Matawan, New Jersey; and Salt Lake City, Utah. She loved to travel with her family and visited Hawaii, attended the Los Angeles Temple dedication, and toured the Eastern states from Maine to Virginia. One of her favorite vacation spots was Lake Powell.
As a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, LaRae spent many hours reading for Sterling W. Sill, a General Authority. She was a devoted BYU fan and enjoyed doing genealogy research. She had many opportunities to serve the Lord and those around her, including as the Relief Society President of Brickyard Plaza Nursing Home. She also led the music at Sandstone North Park (formerly North Canyon Care Center). For many years, she cared for her disabled sister Karen, who had cerebral palsy, until Karen’s passing in 2010. LaRae continued to attend the temple in her later years, even when she was wheelchair-bound.
Blessed with many talents, LaRae worked for Coors Porcelain, JCPenney, Sears & Roebuck, Bryner Clinic, and CenturyLink. She excelled in arts and crafts, cooking, and making handmade chocolates, including Easter Eggs. She once organized a fundraiser selling her chocolate Easter eggs so that her son could attend the National Boy Scout Jamboree. LaRae also dabbled in gold leafing and creating beautiful Christmas window displays.
LaRae was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend. She is greeted in death by her parents; her siblings, Beverly Nobbs Francis (Robert), Ronald Clarence Nobbs, and Karen Joy Nobbs. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Cheryl Johnson Nobbs; daughter Jeanne Rae Bagshaw Hellstrom (Steve) and son James Brent Bagshaw (Kelly); seven grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Those wishing to join the family in celebrating LaRae’s life are invited to her funeral service at the Kimball Mill Chapel at 650 S 200 E in Bountiful at 11:00am on Friday, November 10th. A viewing will precede the service from 9:30 to 11:00am. LaRae will be laid to rest at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park at approximately 12:30-1:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the humanitarian fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or the Cerebral Palsy Foundation (in memory of her late sister).
