Long before we were in the picture, on January 14, 1959, Larry was welcomed by his loving parents, Adrian Leonard and Yvonne Wakefield Lockwood and his siblings, Linda Montague (William) and Steven Douglas Lockwood (Shari).
Larry grew up loving all sports, particularly baseball and basketball. He was the star pitcher for his Bears little league baseball team. He also had a deep love for camping and fishing.
He spent most of his childhood living in the Salt Lake area, except for the end of his ninth grade year when his family moved to Southern California. He told his mom at 15, that the day they moved was the darkest day of his life. “How could anyone be happy in a place without rivers and streams nearby to go trout fishing?”
He was excited when they moved back to Utah a few years later and he was able to return to his friends and his favorite fishing spots. He graduated from Bingham High School in 1977.
In 1978, he met and fell in love with Jill Fikstad Lamb shortly before leaving to serve an LDS mission in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They were married October 10, 1980, in the Salt Lake Temple. They welcomed their son, Trevor, a few years later and then their daughter, Nicole. Although the marriage ended, they remained friends and committed parents.
In 1989, his family grew when he married RaeJeanne McCutcheon with her daughter, Erika and son, Devin who grew to love him as a father. They had quite the crew with four kids under the age of five. Their son, Bronson, was then welcomed by his loving parents and siblings. The marriage also ended, but they too remained friends and committed parents.
Larry had a quick wit, keen intellect, and great sense of humor. He was very charismatic and when he walked into a room people took notice. Larry cared for people immensely and was generous to a fault, always willing and wanting to help others. He had a deep love for his family and they always knew how proud he was of them and how much he loved them. Larry had a profound love for dogs, and was the best Dog Dad to many different dogs over the course of his life. He had a great love of cars. He was thrilled to have the opportunity to go to Germany and select a Porsche that was then shipped to the US. He loved music; some of his favorites were Alice In Chains, Guns n’ Roses, Queensryche, and Garth Brooks.
Larry played a leading role in the development of mortgage wholesale lending programs becoming what they are today. Over the course of his career, he managed multiple regions while building networks of wholesale branches. Many people today enjoy home ownership as the result of Larry’s efforts.
Larry had a longtime friendship with Darcy Leigh and had a special bond with her 4 children. We’d also like to thank his longtime friend Jimi Lyng for being such a great friend to our dad. He had his fur baby, Otis, by his side for over 14 years and he loved him dearly, truly a man's best friend.
Larry loved being a Grandfather to his 3 Grandsons and, not too long ago, was able to enjoy a bowling night and sleepover with them, creating great memories.
Dad, Pops, and Grandpa – we, along with your dad, siblings, daughter-in-law Sara, seven nieces and nephews, friends and loved ones - miss you. Although our hearts are shattered, we know that you are happily reunited with your mom, and what a reunion that must have been. While we wish that there had been more time with you, we will take solace in sharing photos, telling stories, and remembering all
of the good times with you. As a family we have renewed our commitment to get together more frequently in remembrance of you. We love you Dad.
Viewing and Funeral Services will be held on July 9, 2021 at 2:00pm at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S Highland Drive, Millcreek, Utah.
