Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Lennart Isedor Anderson Lansfeldt passed peacefully through the veil into eternity on July 15, 2019 in his 88th year. His last few days were precious and he was surrounded by circles of love that he created. He will be greatly missed.
Lennart was born December 21, 1930 to Emelia Ingeborg Ahlin and Adolf Fredrik Andersson Lansfeldt in Enskede, Sweden. His childhood was made up of skiing and playing music, where he qualified for admission to an illustrious music school.
He immigrated to the United States in 1948 for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It was there in Utah at a dance for immigrant Swedes that he met a beautiful blonde and was forever smitten. He was sealed to his bride and the love of his life, Kerstin Anna Lisa Jacobson on November 29, 1951. (He is survived by his wife of 67 years). They are the parents of four children: Lennie, Lisbeth Van Schelt (Perry), Tim (Malinda), Tina Mathison (Brent), 14 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, two brothers and two sisters.
As a new immigrant, he was drafted into the United States Army during the Korean War on the day of his return from his honeymoon. He was in combat duty and received the Bronze Star.
Lennart had an unwavering testimony of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ and served in numerous Church callings. These included a counselor in the Bishopric, High Priest group leader, Elder's Quorum president, Sunday School teacher, Young Men's President, and home teacher. He loved to serve the Lord by serving others.
He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Utah and worked for 30 years for Salt Lake City and for the Salt Lake International Airport designing and planning the outer structures of the airport.
He had a deep appreciation for the performing arts. Opera, ballet, symphony, etc. He loved music of all genres, everything from Big Band to Classical. He found so much beauty in simplicity. He taught those around him to notice the small things such as the coziness of a fire on a winter night, fresh peaches from his beloved peach tree, game nights, and sitting around telling stories. He lived for traditions with his family. Lennart and Kerstin had a passion for travel. They have been to many places all over the world. He loved to ski and spent his 80th birthday on the slopes!
The great hallmarks of his life have been faithfulness, love, and gentleness. Lennart always let us know that his greatest love was his wife and family. He is a kind soul and rarely uttered negativity. We shall look forward with joy to reuniting with our dear husband/father in due course. He knew what mattered most and leaves a great legacy of love and family.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at the Brickyard Ward chapel, 1111 Charlton Ave. Friends may visit with the family on Monday evening the 22nd from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the church and on Tuesday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:40 a.m. prior to services.
