Leo was born October 21, 1930 in Rexburg, ID, the eldest son of Leo and Theresa Mary Astorga Loya. Leo had the heart of a hero, and all he encountered benefitted from his generosity of spirit. Leo grew up in a difficult time working from a young age to help provide for his family. He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He loved people in a way that made strangers his friends and friends family.
Leo's proudest achievement was his family. He knew from the moment he met Vivian Card that he would marry her, and she couldn't have picked a greater man to love her and her children. Their 64 year love story was inspiring to all who knew them, and their five children felt blessed in having such an example of a love that was meant to be.
Leo had a passion for dance and utilized his gift whenever and wherever possible. At one time, he even taught ballroom classes at the Fred Astaire Studio. Leo was a man of strength, loyalty, gentleness, and grace. While he was greatly loved and will be greatly missed, his positivity, smile, and light leaves a legacy behind that comforts his loved ones. They know he's dancing on the stars awaiting his reunion with his favorite partner who danced through life with him.
Leo is survived by the love of his life, Vivian, and their children Sharon Buckland, Carolyn (Paul) Fountaine, Alyn (Pam) Loya, Tracy (Bill) Speaks, Chris (Maria) Loya, 17 grandchildren, and 33 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Paul Loya, sisters Mimi Romo and Glenna Dell, and son-in-law Ted Buckland.
