Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Leonard LeRoy Dixon, age 90, better known as “Roy”, peacefully returned home to his Heavenly Father on Sunday, March 20, 2016. He was born June 3, 1925, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Olive Davis and Leonard Francis Dixon.
Upon graduation from South High School, Roy enlisted in the US Navy and served in WWII as a Radar Technician.
Upon his return he saw a dark haired beauty, Mary Lou Averett at a ward Fundraiser and told his buddy Wayne, “that is the girl I am going to marry”. On June 18, 1947, he fulfilled that pledge in the Salt Lake, LDS Temple. They have been married for over 68 years.
One of Roy’s earliest jobs was working in his Dad’s radiator repair shop. He then spent most of his career as a TV and radio Technician, and as Service Manager for South East Furniture. He resided in the Wilford Ward where he raised his family and as a devoted member of the LDS church, served in many positions including, Scoutmaster, Teacher, member of the Bishopric and many Priesthood Leadership positions. He selflessly shared his talents and time with the neighbors he loved.
Dad enjoyed music and played the piano and the accordion by ear. He loved gospel study, gardening, bowling with Mom and the outdoors. He especially loved riding Mt. Trails, fishing and exploring God’s beautiful world.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Averett Dixon and devoted daughters and son; Sherry Staten, Linda Brewer (Doug), Debbie Olson (Duff), Bonnie Morrill, Lori Kirk (Preston) and Mark Dixon. Twenty-two Grand Children and fifty-three Great Grand Children will miss their playful grandpa.

Dad exemplified everything that is good and was a true disciple of Jesus Christ on earth.
