Dr. Cooper’s academic journey was as remarkable as her professional career. She earned her undergraduate degree in chemistry from Georgia State University before obtaining a master’s degree in physiology from North Carolina State University. As an all-star athlete in high school and a professional triathlete throughout her college years, Dr. Cooper’s firsthand experience with sports injuries fueled her passion for medicine. She understood athletes' challenges and dedicated her career to helping others overcome similar hurdles. Her expertise led her to the University of Utah, where she became the Fellowship Director for Sports Medicine in Family Medicine and was honored as the Best Teacher in 2009.
Dr. Cooper’s commitment to health extended beyond traditional medicine. She was fellowship-trained in Functional and Regenerative Medicine and certified in advanced endocrinology through the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine. Outside of medicine, Leslie embraced the beauty of Utah, enjoying hiking, biking, golfing, and the great outdoors. She played guitar and saw her all-time favorite rock band, Aerosmith, five times.
Dr. Cooper’s kindness, wisdom, and passion for helping others will be deeply missed by her family, friends, colleagues, and patients.
