

Linda Joy Martinez, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, was born in Salt Lake City on January 22, 1947, to her parents, Francis and Lucille Walling Lundberg. She died surrounded by loved ones on June 1, 2025.
Linda grew up in Salt Lake City and graduated from West High School. Linda experienced the loss of both parents at a young age, a hardship that shaped her compassion throughout her life. As a youth, she enjoyed playing sports especially church softball. She had a tender heart for children and pets. She was a wonderful cook, seamstress, and loved playing games. She spent many hours watching game shows, Hallmark movies, and putting together puzzles. She loved going for an afternoon car ride and always took the back roads. She loved sitting outside, enjoying the sun and watching hummingbirds.
Linda was a hardworking and reliable employee who spent her life contributing to several companies, always bringing dedication and a strong work ethic to every role she took on. She worked at National Semiconductor, then enhanced her skills at Salt Lake Community College before joining the radiology department at St. Mark’s Hospital, where she dedicated many years until her retirement in 2009. She built friendships wherever she went with coworkers and neighbors.
Linda married Gasper Martinez in 1971. They built their home in Murray, Utah where they lived nearly 50 years. Together they had a son, Nicholas, who was the light of her life. She is survived by her son, Nick (Katie) and four of her six loving stepchildren, Kathie (Ken) Baker, Robbie (John) Snyder, Barney (Cindy), and Jeff (Lizette). Linda loved children and being a grandma brought her so much joy. She is survived by her many grandchildren and great grandchildren, extended family, and friends.
Linda was preceded in death by both her parents, sister Jeannette, her husband Marty, stepson Kenny, stepdaughter Julie, grandsons Justin, Marcus, and Gordy.
Linda’s graveside memorial services will be held for family and friends at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary located at 3401 S Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah on Wednesday, June 11th beginning at 11:00am.
