Linda was born on September 9th, 1954 in Logan, UT to Nola Afton Maughan and Jack Howard Parry. She grew up in Price, UT where she spent wonderful times with her family, boating and water-skiing. Linda held a tender, motherly affection for her two youngest brothers, admiration for her older brother, and closeness with her sister that endured throughout her life. She played the clarinet and her welcoming, kind demeanor attracted many friends. She graduated with honors from Cottonwood High in 1972, earning her cosmetology license shortly thereafter. While attending BYU Hawaii on a music scholarship, Linda was inspired to serve a mission. She was called to serve a Dutch-speaking mission in Belgium. After returning home, Linda married Don Parker and had two children. While raising her family, she worked part time and continued to pursue her education. She graduated from BYU Provo with an MBA in Organizational Behavior. When Linda fell seriously ill shortly after, she was miraculously healed by a blessing given by her father, Jack. In time, she recovered enough to return to work where she spent many years as an administrator for research programs focused on suicide prevention at the Veteran’s Administration. In 2010, Linda fulfilled a lifelong dream when she was sealed in the temple to her beloved husband, Bill Switzer. In the later years of her life, Linda found joy in creating pottery with her dear friend, Rose Wegescheide.
Linda loved to laugh. She believed in the goodness of people, forgave easily, and championed the underdog. She was generous. Linda's hardships in health only served to deepen her faith in the healing power of Jesus Christ and the divine wisdom of the path set out before each of us. She believed that children were sent from heaven and found great happiness in her son and daughter, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Music brought her joy and she had faith in the power of it to bring us closer to God. She was ambitious and pursued many opportunities in business.
Linda was preceded in death by her mother, Nola Afton Maughan, and father, Jack Howard Parry; grandparents Howard and Eldora Maughan, and Daniel and Clara Parry; and members of her blended family, including her step-daughter Sherrie Curtis.
Linda is survived by her husband, Bill Switzer, daughter Corinn Parker (Cesar), and son Jesse Parker; her dear sister, Barbara Watson (David), and three brothers David Parry (Joyce), James Parry, and Grant Parry (Hollie); two grandchildren, Madilynne and Sebastian; two step-children, Julie Jardine and Richard Switzer, and many nieces and nephews.
