Born May 27, 1946 in Ridgewood, Long Island to Dr. A. E. Kannwischer and Ruth Bretschneider Kannwischer, Lois passed away unexpectedly on March 20, 2013 of complications from a severe viral illness. She graduated from Haverford High School in Havertown, PA in l964, received a bachelors degree in music from Baylor University in l968, and a masters degree in music from the University of Houston. Lois studied clarinet under Dr. Lawrence Maxey, Dr. Jeffrey Lerner, and Prof. Daniel Bonade, who was principal clarinetist with the Philadelphia Orchestra. Her professional career as a clarinetist was with the Houston Symphony, Houston Theater Under the Stars, Houston Opera orchestra, and Houston Ballet orchestra. Lois moved to Park City, Utah in 2004 and taught clarinet, saxophone, and flute to numerous middle school and high school students. Her world was not complete without music, and she shared that passion with her students. Lois’s Christian faith comprised the foundation of her life. She was active in the Park City Community Church choir as well as in the Civil Air Patrol, achieving the rank of Lt. Colonel. She was an enthusiastic fan of Baylor University’s music program and Baylor’s athletic teams. Lois collected stuffed bears and had acquired over 100 in her lifetime. She was very family-oriented and will be greatly missed. Lois is survived by two brothers: Dr. Stephen Kannwischer, and wife Marilyn, of Sacramento, California; and Dr. Lewis Kannwischer, and wife Gale, of Waco, Texas. Her extended family includes two nephews: The Rev. Dr. Richard Kannwischer, wife Kelly, and their daughters, Danica and Ashby, of Newport Beach, California; and Mr. Darrell Kannwischer of Sacramento, California; and well as two nieces: Mrs. Carolyn Bess and husband, Craig, of Dallas, Texas; and Mrs. Marcy Medina, husband Mauricio, and their sons, Mateo and Roman, of Pleasanton, California.
