

She was born on July 8, 1926 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Maude Ann Marshall and David William Adamson. Married George Thomas McGrath Nov. 16, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple and raised George’s two children, Julia and Michael, as her own.
LuDean was a member of the Valley View 10th Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved her Savior dearly. She cherished her two-year service as a stake missionary in the Liberty Stake and fondly recalled her experiences. LuDean served in the Primary organization on stake and ward levels and especially enjoyed her relationship with the Blazer B boys.
She also served as ward Relief Society president several times and loved the sisters she served and sisters she worked beside. LuDean valued her greatest calling to be a wife, mother, and grandmother. Her testimony of Christ and the truthfulness of his church was shared frequently, and this testimony never wavered. She had a believing heart.
LuDean revered her pioneer ancestors and was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers for over 62 years. She served in every DUP leadership position within the camp and taught DUP lessons at 96 years of age.
LuDean enjoyed quilting, tole painting, crafts, hosting showers, writing poetry, traveling with friends and family, and time spent at their Soldier Creek cabin.
LuDean was loved by many and made deep and lasting friendships. Her service to others was a hallmark of her life. Right up to the last few months she was sending inspiring and encouraging messages via Instant Messenger to ward members, friends, missionaries and family.
Survived by George Michael (Gloria) McGrath, David Lee (Joann) McGrath, Diane (TBA) McGrath, 12 grandchildren, 64 great grandchildren, 41 great great grandchildren; Preceded in death by her husband George Thomas McGrath, daughter Julia LaRue (Weldon) Wardell, a son Thomas Gerard McGrath, her beloved sister Maudella Adamson Hepworth, two granddaughters Jessica Wardell Adamson and Anita Wardell Watts, and many others.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday January 6, 2026 at 10:30 am in the Valley View 10th Ward chapel, on 3900 S and 20th E. Friends and family can call Monday evening January 5th from 6-8 pm or on the 6th from 9-10 am, both at the Valley View 10th Ward building. Interment will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
