Our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother returned to her heavenly home on November 10, 2016. Born in Salt Lake City, UT on May 23, 1931 to Lawrence Dunster Eldredge and Mabel Emery Eldredge, Mabel was the youngest of nine children. She was a joyful child and a beautiful and spirited young lady who loved her family, music, dancing, and making people laugh. She attended East High School where she was active in the choir. Mabel married her sweetheart Henry Dunyon Stringham on August 28, 1951 in the Salt Lake City Temple. They spent 65 years together, deeply committed to each other. She dedicated every day to nurturing her family. Her heart was a well of love for her husband and their ten children, 42 grandchildren, and 58 great grandchildren. With each day that passed, Henry and Mabel’s love for each other grew. Henry would frequently tell Mabel how beautiful she was, and that she was the best wife and mother in the world. Everyone that saw them together was inspired to serve and love more deeply.
Mabel was always happy. She continually carried a smile on her face and a joke on her lips. She brought joy to everyone. It was a privilege to be in her presence, and an honor to receive the love she so willingly gave. She was a faithful, active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served a full-time mission with her husband in the Columbia, South Carolina Mission, as well as tour guides on Temple Square, and later as service missionaries at the Conference Center in Salt Lake City.
Mabel joined the loving arms of her parents, siblings, granddaughter Brooke, and great granddaughter Annie. She is deeply missed by her husband, Henry, and ten children: Thom Stringham (Kim), Julie Nelson (David), David Stringham (Marilee), Mary Barnes (David), Patricia Manwaring (Jed), Jane Owen (Steve), Joy Sanders (Eric), Rosie Nielsen (Brad), Colleen Gygi (Tad), Heidi Ragland (Chad), and her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who hopefully await the day of their reunion.
