Marcele Speirs Huffaker

Born May 6, 1937, in Vernal, Utah, to Kenneth Speirs and Media (Carpenter) Speirs. Marcele was raised on a farm and later a ranch, where she learned the principles of hard work, which she followed throughout her life. Living in the country was interspersed with stints in the city, so she always said she was half city-girl and half country-girl.

A lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Marcele served missions in the Great Lakes Mission and later the Salt Lake Inner-city Mission. Marcele had a career working for the telephone company, Mountain Bell. She married Donald Winn Huffaker April 7, 1977, with whom she raised a daughter, Heather. Marcele always carried a song in her heart and went about her days whistling and humming.

Preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Media Speirs, siblings Vonda (Frank) Swain, Harold (Betty) Speirs, Naon (James) Cunliffe, George Speirs, Glenn Speirs, and Owen Speirs, nieces, Rebecca Speirs and DeAnn Morgan, step-sons, Chad Huffaker and Steven Huffaker, and many dear friends.

Survived by husband, Donald Winn Huffaker, daughter Heather (Patrick) Thomas, stepdaughter Ann (Eric) Hunting, beloved sister-in-law Claire Speirs, and numerous nieces and nephews.

At Marcele’s request, a graveside service will be held, Thursday, October 15, 2026, at 11:00 am, in Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park (3401 S. Highland Drive, Millcreek, UT).
