Mark Lewis Phipps, age 54, passed away the morning of January 15 in the presence of his family and friends.
Mark was born in Salt Lake City on September 17, 1964 to Orval (Butch) and Valeree Phipps. He is survived by his parents, sister Kristen Phipps, daughter Grace Falkner, nephew Alec Phipps, loving girlfriend Jenny Jo Martin, and several family and friends, all whom he cherished dearly.
Mark was the proud owner of Duffy’s Tavern and welcomed all that he met into his heart. Mark’s generosity, compassion and positivity was felt by all who knew him. He enjoyed taking long rides on his Harley, spending time with his loved ones and relaxing by the ocean. He was a Utah Utes and Chicago sports fan; cheering on the Cubs, Bears and Blackhawks. His deep laugh, joyful nature and strong bear hugs brought comfort and warmth to his family, friends and strangers alike. Mark was larger than life with a heart of gold, he will be deeply missed by all.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, January 20 from 12-5 pm at 755 North 400 West in Salt Lake City. In lieu of flowers and to honor his charitable nature, donations can be made in Mark’s name to the Salt Lake City Humane Society or the Gold Star Families to support our local Veterans.
