Beloved daughter, sister, spouse, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother Marlene completed her sojourn on this earth. Marlene entered this earth in Heyburn, Idaho, a 3rd generation Idahoan and proud Welsh descendant, daughter of Norman Lester (Bud) Williams and Donna Hutchinson Williams Arbogast. She learned to work at an early age, and passed along her love of work and her desire of doing things the very best way possible to her children. Marlene was a doer, whether it was making furniture, sewing clothing for her husband and children, sculpting stone figurines, throwing and firing a clay bowl, painting a beautiful oil painting, or renovating or building a new home. She excelled in everything she pursued, and set a great example of “what e’er thou art, act well thy part.” Marlene’s paintings were displayed at BYU Idaho in March, 2016.
Marlene excelled in school, also following the path of “do the very best possible.” She entered BYU Provo in 1961, with 3 young boys, and graduated in 3 years, summa cum laude, at the top of her class. During her 64 years with husband Arlin, they renovated 6 homes, and built 4 new homes in Utah, Idaho, and New York. After retirement she and Arlin turned their focus from building and renovating their own homes, to helping others “build and renovate” their homes, by serving 6 missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in Pakistan, Shanghai, Beijing (twice), Salt Lake City, and the Philippines.
Marlene is preceded in death by her parents, sister Donna Joann Osterhaut, and daughter-in-law Janell Newman Berry (Bryce). She is survived by her husband, Arlin Glen Berry; children- Glen E. Berry (Laura), Bryce Arlin Berry (Tyresha), Boyd Alan Berry (Cathi), Leslie Berry Schofield (Jon), and Lanis Berry Whitney (Lance); 22 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren; brothers Norman Lester (Buddy) Williams, and Clinton Clyde (Clint) Williams, and sisters Flora Lorraine (Heywood) Williams, Mary Dawn Wakhre, and Donna Esther (Eddi) Morris.
The Berry family thanks the doctors and nurses at Bristol Hospice and Ashford Memory Care for their loving care of Marlene.
