Marty Nelson, (62) was born on April 5, 1960 he passed away Monday, February, 6th of heart failure. He is survived by his kind and loving wife of 44 years, Karen Peacock Nelson. They were blessed with three amazing children; Christopher Nelson, MartiLin Nelson, and Shane (Ashley) Nelson. Grandchildren; Jeordon Nelson, Alyssa Allen, Parker Breshears, Chase Nelson, Makenzie Nelson, Payson Nelson, and a new grandson is expected in April. Also his Great Grandson and Buddy Lorenzo DeHerrera. He is also survived by siblings; Judy Arnold, Jerry Nelson, Tracey Nelson, Alan Nelson, Timmy Nelson, and Linda Pacheco. Marty was a loving brother-in-law and Uncle to many. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Gilbert Nelson and Roberta Medina Nelson. His brothers; Tommy Romero and David Arinjo. As well as, his brother-in-law and best friend Gene Arnold, and his father-in-law Richard Peacock.
He worked at Apex Battery with his brother-in-law Steve Terry. Most of his years were spent working at Granite School District where he made so many good friends. Everyone called Marty when they needed sprinklers repaired, he knew just what to do, he was an expert and took so much pride in his work. Marty also had a passion and love for playing the drums. He was so talented in the many hobbies he enjoyed.
Marty was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved and enjoyed hunting with his sons and grandkids. In his spare time, he loved to golf with his son Shane. Those two on the course and in tournaments were unstoppable, they made such a great team. Marty also enjoyed golfing with his two best friends Steve Madrid and DeLaun Fullmer. That's where he was to be found most of the time, enjoying life and his favorite sport.
Marty will be laid to rest on Friday, March 3rd at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive. A viewing will be held from 11:00 am to 12:45 pm. Followed by a graveside service and open mic at 1:15 pm. Concluding with a Dedicatory Prayer and a luncheon for immediate family and friends.
