Mary Alma Henderson Clement was born in the deep south of North Carolina on September 29th 1932. She was the 4th out of 5 children to Clen and Fleta Henderson and was raised on a tobacco farm. She told stories of her life on the farm from hanging sticky tobacco leaves in the barn to dry, to braving the snakes and critters that came with farming.
Life was simple for her growing up but that would all change when she met the love of her life, a sailor at church who would sweep her off her feet and move her out west where she would raise her family and become eventually, a great, great grandmother.
Mary and Carroll Clement would marry in the Salt Lake City temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and spend 67 years together, raising 5 children and serving 3 missions as seniors.
Mother went on to start her own retail stores in her later years. First, Ribbon and Lace and then Mary's Bridal, which is still in business today. She loved her stores and happily ran them until her retirement.
She loved engaging in many activities but her favorite things to do were singing, dancing, entertaining and shopping.
She loved going to church and made many friends over the years through her activity with her congregation. She held many callings including Relief Society President. She loved the Lord!
Mary is survived by her children, Debra (Alan Rudd), Dan (Terry), Karen (Rod Lewis Sheets), LeeAnn (Adam Nash),Tom (Jill).
She was preceded in death by her parents Clen and Fleta Henderson, her brothers and sister Manly, Roger, Nanny Mae Howard and Bobby. Her husband Carroll Clement, her grand children Carly LeeAnn Davis, Alexander Nelson and great grand daughter Avery Lynn Allen.
