In the early morning hours of Wednesday, February 27, 2019, south of Weiser, Idaho, our sweet angel, daughter, sister, niece, aunt and friend, returned home unexpectedly to her Heavenly Father in an automobile accident and was released from the pains and sufferings of this life.
Mary was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on May 7, 1981. She was the youngest of 4 children born to Ronald Clarence and Cheryl D (Johnson) Nobbs. Mary has always had a very sweet and loving spirit and was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was just called to serve as a primary teacher a week and a half earlier. One of Mary’s new primary children replied when he was told by his mother about her death “That’s just not fair. We only had her for one class.” Mary was always willing to assist anyone in need. Unknowingly as a last act of service here on earth, Mary visited her mother who was ill and, in the Hospital, just days before she passed. She went to her parent’s home to assist to clean it up for Mom’s return home. Mary loved and cared about everyone and was loved by all who knew her. She never knew the impact she had on the lives of those around her.
Mary grew up in the Sugarhouse area of Salt Lake, and graduated from Highland High School in 2000. She later took classes at Salt Lake Community College, but hadn’t finished her education. She had planned to return to finish her education once she was able to afford it. Mary worked as a cashier at Dan’s Foods on Foothill Drive for many years and moved up to Weiser, Idaho this past September to be with her sister and her family and to seek further opportunities for personal growth. She started a job at Staple’s in Ontario, Oregon. Her first day was on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. She heard everyone say how busy they were that day, and after her many years of experience at the grocery store, she thought they were nuts.
Mary loved to travel. Her favorite place was Disneyland and she was planning a trip there this Fall with her sister and family. Her most recent trip was to the Oregon Coast with her sister and her family which she enjoyed immensely. Mary said that she could never get enough of the ocean. Mary liked camping and going to a friend’s cabin in Island Park, Idaho. Mary is a big fan of Céline Dione. She enjoyed collecting snow globes and playing the piano. She always had a lot of fun playing the X-Box with her sister and nieces. Her favorite movies were the Pirates of the Caribbean series, the Harry Potter series, and The Little Mermaid. Her favorite beverage was Dr. Pepper, although she was trying to kick the habit. Mary always enjoyed playing with her nieces and nephews.
Mary is survived by her parents Ronald C. and Cheryl Nobbs, siblings Ronald G. Nobbs (Jennifer), Michelle Koeppen (Karl), Richard Nobbs (Alana), nieces and nephews Katie, Kelsey, Ben, Zach, Josh, Chelsea, and Kyle. She is preceded in death by both sets of Grandparents Gilbert Clarence Nobbs and Thelma Tate Nobbs and Alvin Johnson and Delva Snow Johnson, her Uncle Robert (Bob) Francis, and Aunt Karen Joy Nobbs.
The family will receive friends on March 8th from 6 - 8 pm and again on March 9th from 10:30 - 11:30 am at the Foxboro 1st ward chapel at 875 Foxboro Dr., North Salt Lake, Utah. Following the Saturday morning viewing, memorial services will take place at noon in the chapel. Interment will follow at the Wasatch Lawn Cemetery at 3401 S. Highland Dr., Salt Lake City, Utah.
Many thanks for all the prayers, expressions of love and support from family members, friends, Foxboro 1st Ward members, Weiser 1st Ward members, Coworkers at Staples, the services provided by Thomason Funeral Home and Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary.
