Mary Joann Slater passed away in Rancho Mirage, California, October 2, 2021. The daughter of Bryan and Gladys Strout was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, February 12, 1930. She was married 70 years to her husband. She was a devoted wife and mom; JoAnn was a graduate of West High School. She had a strong belief in God, and always put family first. She focused on making the home environment stimulating so her children would be successful and independent. She also had a passion for treating people with respect and dignity inspired by her life as a child and the early years of marriage when times were tough. She approached life from the point of view that everything she did was an example of how one should live. She will be sorely missed by family, friends, She is survived by her five children, Jim, Julie, Jan, Jerry, and Jon, 14 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. Private Memorial Services will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary.
