After 96 years of tireless love and care for others, our sweet mother and wife passed on to her next adventure. She was the partner, the friend, the teacher, the confidant, the caregiver and the best damn cook you could ask for. Maxine played with her kids, grandchildren and great grandchildren allowing all of us to imagine and build anything from forts to bakeries. She was creative and inventive and loved most of all to cook and care for her family.
Ben and Clara Riley raised their oldest daughter Maxine in Wibaux, Montana. It was there that she met Harvey Wolcott, who was immediately attracted to the beautiful young woman with the long red hair. Maxine graduated high school as valedictorian and studied one year at Montana State in Bozeman. Harvey and Maxine were married on February 6, 1943. For nearly 76 years, their love and devotion to each other never wavered.
Maxine's love knew no boundaries. A person of beautiful heart and a generous soul, Maxine created solace for those in pain and joy for all the others. Her uplifting and honest manner around long-time friends and new acquaintances alike brought a natural ease to all who were privileged to meet her. Her selflessness, her unconditional acceptance of others, her strength during the challenging times and her joy for life show how one lives the best life.
Survived by her husband, Harvey and her children, Ron(Chris) and Janet(Jim), all of Salt Lake City. Survived also by her grandchildren Christopher Wolcott, David Wolcott, Shay Wolcott (Nicole), Eric Wolcott, Jody Wey (Rick) and Zoe Wolcott, each of Salt Lake City; Emily Wolcott of New York City, New York and Amanda Wolcott of Austin, Texas and great grandchildren Maxwell, Gabrielle, Parker, Skyler, Jaxson, Olevia, and Jette. She was preceded in death by her son Jim and by her sister, Jackie McLaughlin.
A celebration of life will be held at Wasatch Lawn Memorial, 3401 South Highland Drive, on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family wishes to thank Danville Support Services, the medical personnel at St. Mark's Hospital and the team at Station 106 for their kind attention and care.
