Merlin Hodson

Our beautiful mother, Merle Morton Killpack Hodson, 82, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2013, surrounded by her family.

Merle was born on September 29, 1930 to William John and Sarah Jessie Morton. She was raised in Salt Lake City and graduated from West High School in 1948.

She married Theodore N. Killpack on April 16, 1954. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Ted died on January 31, 1962.

She married Carl W. Hodson on August 21, 1968. They were later divorced.

Merle was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Ogden Burch Creek 7th Ward. She held many positions throughout the years.

She enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling and spending time with her family.

Merle worked for Anderson Lumber and retired from Wonder Bread in 1994.

She is survived by her children Kent N. (Julie) Killpack, Cheryl (Roger) Watkins and Jon (Carol) Hodson. Grandchildren; Nichole Pierce, Jeff Killpack, Brittany (RJ) Hooper and Jesse Kenley and four great grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters Shirley Hallum, Audrey Larsen and one brother Jim (Reva) Morton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and two sisters.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday September 18 at 11:00 AM at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah.
