Michael was born on November 12, 1943 in Salt Lake City although he also lived for a period of time in San Francisco, California as he chased a budding career in theater. Michael was very talented on the stage and as a singer and dancer. He was a lifelong lover of the performing arts and often made appearances as an extra in multiple films. He was also well known as Suzanne’s biggest supporter and often was her painting muse. One might say his most defining quality was his devotion to his wife and his love of animals. He nurtured several fur babies, many of which he and Suzanne shared. He likely will be greeted by a large cast of furry characters, the likes of Molly, Steamboat, Ozzy, Scotch, Dudley, Beulah, and Windsor come to mind. He was exemplary in his compassion for all living things: always releasing any wayward mice from the kitchen cupboards into the wild and capturing the essence of animals with his dynamic photography skills.
He is survived by his wife Suzanne Tornquist, his dog Golda Pearl, brothers Dane and Kelley Beck, sister Marcie McIntosh, his two children by marriage, Forrest Mason and Wendy Miles, and his lovely grandchildren Rose Thorn, Zoe Miles and Quintin Miles. He was preceded in death by his father Joe, his mother Joyce, and his sister January.
A service will be held at the SHAARE TZEDEK cemetery, 915 E. 11th Ave., at 2:30 PM on Thursday, October 15th. The family will host an informal gathering after the service at the McIntosh family home 1151 South 2000 East SLC UT 84108
