Kent was born July 21, 1952 in Salt Lake City, Utah to his proud parents, Monte Van Andersen and Nadine Sorensen Andersen. He married the love of his life, his high school sweetheart, Lynda Lee Gunn, September 10, 1976 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with two children, Chad (Rachael) Andersen and Brooke Halladay.
Kent was drafted in 1971 during the Vietnam War. He joined the USAF and later served 6 years in the Air National Guard. He was stationed at Lackland, Air Force Base, Shepard Air Force Base, Vandenberg, Air Force Base, Elgin Air Force Base and Elemendorf, Air Force Base. He was trained as a communications specialist. He was honorably discharged in 1978. He attended Salt Lake Community College.
Kent worked for Young Electric Sign Company for 25 years and then began working for Gunn Construction for 22 years retiring in 2018.
Kent enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, being with his family, Monroe Mountain, Mayfield, Bear Lake, Lake Mead, and the New York Yankees. He had to watch an episode of Gunsmoke every night before going to sleep, loved pheasant hunting and especially helping others. He liked to play a good game of Crack Toe (his family knows what this means) with his grandkids, loved his many dogs, especially his beloved Missy. Most people love their grandchildren but Kent LOVED his grandchildren, Gentrie, Daxten, Treyden Andersen and Reagan Lee, they were the light of his world, heart and life. Kent had the best smile and gave the best bear hugs. Kent had a positive impact on the lives of so many people and was so admired. He was a very humble man.
Kent and Lynda were inseparable going everywhere together, traveling many fun places and creating lifelong memories. He enjoyed remodeling their beautiful home, keeping up his manicured yard, and he was always the life of family parties. Lynda was such a strong and loving support to Kent and they loved their family dearly.. Lynda’s pet name for Kent was Monas.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lynda, married 44 years, two children; Chad (Rachael) Andersen and Brooke Halladay, grandchildren Gentrie, Daxten, Treyden Andersen and Reagan Lee. He is also survived by his siblings, Jill Andersen, Bill (Diane) Andersen and Linda (Jeff) Mellen.
Kent was very proud of his heritage and legacy, and proud to be able to pass the Andersen name onto his children and grandchildren.
