Nada Jean Gould Greer passed peacefully from this earthy experience October 20, 2019 at her home in Kaysville, Utah. She was born on October 22, 1932 in Pine, Arizona. She is the oldest of five children born to Jay Harmon and Margaret Fuller Gould.
Nada spent most of her childhood in her log cabin mountain home in Pine. She attended school in Prescott and also Winslow where she graduated. Her good friend, Jean Hansen Smith, encouraged her to attend BYU in January 1952 and it was there, while she pursued coursework in Home Economics, that she met Harvey Greer on a blind date. The were married December 27, 1956 in the Mesa Arizona Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Nada taught school at Spanish Fork Jr. High for two years while Harvey finished at BYU, then worked various jobs - reservation agent at American Airlines, managing 18 apartments, and babysitting while in CA where Harvey completed dental school at USC.
They were assigned to McClellan AFB in Sacramento, CA after graduation in 1962. Nada felt like she had come home and loved living in the Sacramento area for the next 52 years, especially in the home she helped design in Fair Oaks.
Nada was an exceptional homemaker. She embraced the calling of mother with dedication and love and created a beautiful home for her family of 4 children, later welcoming a 4th teenage daughter. She was an excellent cook, especially when it came to making candy. All her children and grandchildren loved to help and sample the sweets. She was also a skilled seamstress and taught her children to appreciate this art. Nada loved any opportunity to develop her painting skills and is was extremely talented in this area. She has left quite a legacy of art for her family to enjoy.
Nada served in many callings in LDS church, probably her favorite being that of service in the Primary. Children were a very important part of Nada’s life. She was drawn to any child and they to her. She had quite the following of neighborhood children who would come to her house for seasonal cookie decorating or crafts. Her fondest memories were those involving the children in her life.
Her children always knew they were loved by their mother unconditionally. Nada never wavered in her faith in Jesus Christ. Her love and commitment to her family will remain a reminder that families are truly together forever. She was a wonderful example of a righteous, humble and Christ-like woman. She will be missed, but her gentle, kind, and righteous influence will always be remembered and cherished.
Nada is survived by her husband of 63 years, Harvey S. Greer (Kaysville), sister Virginia Evans (Gilbert, AZ), brother, Rick Gould (Tubac, AZ), sister-in-law Leila Gould (Mesa, AZ), brother-in-law Edwin Sirrine (Sahuarita, AZ), children Dianna and Jay Bybee (Henderson, NV), Steven and Kay Greer (Kaysville), Allison and Tony Frazier (Kaysville), Wendy Ellen Howe (Hayward, CA), Suzanne and Steve Brown (Gilbert, AZ), 18 grand children, and 17 great-grand children.
