Nathan William Ewald, age 16, passed away in his home on July 3, 2024. He was born January 4, 2008 in Salt Lake City, Utah to two loving parents.
If you were blessed to know Nathan, you are better off for it! He had just finished his sophomore year at Hunter High School. He inspired many and brought joy to those around him. He was truly unique without a selfish bone in his body. He was not perfect but he was the closest we had ever seen in a human being.
Nathan had many hobbies including, tennis, playing the clarinet, building Legos, Star Wars, anything Marvel, biking, hiking, working out at the gym, music, and video games. One of his newer interests was creating things with his 3D printer. He had also recently started bodybuilding. We know he would have been amazing at achieving his goals. His progress was already showing. He loved cycling and worked very hard at training and finally accomplishing his goal of riding the entire Mountain View Corridor on April 21, 2024.
Nathan loved his family so much and had a special bond with each of them. He enjoyed hanging out with his sisters and playing games with them. He was always there to support them in all their dance and cheer competitions. He never once complained about the hours he spent patiently waiting to see them perform. He was so proud of them. He looked up to his big brother and was always happy to spend time with him. Over the last few years their rooms were next to each other. They shared many things including clothing, electronics, but most importantly, advice and deep conversations. One thing they had special from early on, was their shared username for video games. Jake was tronfire8 and Nathan was tronfire7.
A relationship between a mom and her son is extra special and this was the case for Nathan and his mom. They loved going on night drives together, walks and staying up late talking. He just cherished spending time with her. While most teenage boys are hesitant to tell their moms they love them in front of their friends, Nathan never passed up the opportunity to tell his mom he loved her. He wasn't worried about being embarrassed. He spent countless hours with his dad building things, watching shows, or just hanging out. He loved Spiderman. One of our favorite memories is when he did cosplay in Times Square and was happy to pose with anyone for nothing but a smile. He loved Obi Won Kenobi. "Hello There" was one of his most memorable quotes. Nathan was highly intelligent, logical, and practical. He was aspiring to be an entrepreneur. We all know he would have been amazing at anything he set his mind to. He was destined for greatness.
Nathan is survived by his parents Bruce and Jennifer Ewald, his older brother Jake Ewald, his older sister Emily Ewald and his younger sister Sara Ewald.
In addition to his immediate family, he is also survived by his Grandmother Laura Levan, Great Grandmother Helen Ewald, and his two best friends Josiah and Chase who meant the world to him.
