

Born October 17,1933 in Moscow, Idaho, to Dr.Wylie and LaVon Goodsell. He spent his formative years at Washington-Lee High School before pursuing a distinguished career in medicine at George Washington University Medical School.
Neil's commitment to service was evident through his involvement with the Air Force in Sacramento, California, where he served as a flight surgeon for two years. His medical career began in 1965 when he joined three other physicians in a general practice in Holladay, Utah. After a decade, he transitioned to emergency medicine in Reno, Nevada, cherishing the relationships he built with his patients until his retirement in Las Vegas.
In 1959 he married Annette Rowberry and they adopted 4 children - David, Jeff, Michelle and Nicole. They were later divorced. In 1974 he married Karen Mcphie (deceased) and had two children - Diana and Maria. He later married his current wife Carol Robertson.
A devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Neil was deeply involved in his church community. He served in various wards as the ward chorister for over 40 years and directed the choir for 15 years, also organizing male choruses and choirs for stake conferences.
Neil's passions extended beyond his professional and spiritual life into various hobbies. He was an avid pilot, boater, skier, and car enthusiast. Music played a significant role throughout his life, and he cherished his family and family gatherings at the beach in North Carolina every year.
Neil is survived by his loving wife, Carol Robertson Goodsell; brothers, Glen Goodsell (Peggy) and Steven Goodsell (Judy); children, David Neil Goodsell, Jeffrey Don Goodsell (Dominique), Michelle Goodsell Katsanevas (Michael), Nicole Goodsell Forbes, Diana Goodsell, and Maria Goodsell Paxinos (Mike); grandchildren, Nicholas Goodsell (Aleksi), Taylor Goodsell, Hunter Forbes, Leonidas Britton Katsanevas, Ireland Forbes, Oakley Goodsell, Mikele Katsanevas, Carson Paxinos, Adeline Paxinos, and Luke Goodsell; and great-grandchildren, Mara, Robbie, and Shiloh Goodsell. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wylie and LaVon Goodsell, and his sister, Kay Bradford.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, located at 3401 South Highland Drive, SLC, Utah 84106. Wasatch Lawn Mortuary in Salt Lake City, Utah is assisting the family during this time. Neil's legacy of compassion, dedication, and community involvement will be remembered by all who knew him.
