Nicole Elish Carlston, 33, born July 30, 1986, to John Woodward Carlston and Angela Stacy Pinder Carlston, in Murray, Utah, peacefully passed away in her sleep on Nov. 09, 2019 after a 2 hr seizure in Wichita, KS.
Nicole was creative and compassionate. She loved to crochet, was learning to sew and quilt loved to paint and use her creative juices to make things.
She had a servant's heart. She always looked for opportunities to serve others. She made a hundred blessing bags for homeless people and carried them in the vehicle waiting for an opportunity to hand one to them. She volunteered with different organizations to hand out meals to the homeless. She loved holding babies for days. She was a baby whisperer.
Nicole loved the outdoors. Skiing, boating, hiking, camping, fishing, traveling anywhere and everywhere.
God blessed her with a body and mind that didn't work like others. She was childlike, which in turn, let her see others with Christ-like love and show that love to those around her.
She was medically complex from the moment of birth. On a daily basis, she dealt with many medical issues and pain. Nicole was autistic and mentally ill. Horrible illnesses that from the outside looking in seemed like she was whole and OK, all the while her brain and mind not working properly. She fought pain every day, for over 25 years. She was plagued with voices that chattered in the background constantly. She did her best when they yelled at her but when the pain of the voices was too intense, to make the pain stop she self-harmed in ways that she felt caused her less pain but to others that pain would be inconceivable. Sometimes she lost the daily fight but she didn't lose the war of mental illness.
She graduated from Goddard High School, Goddard, KS and attended Wichita State University. Her hope for years was to be able to serve a mission and 2 years ago she was finally able to make that dream come true. She served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Saints serving in the Salt Lake City Inner City Service Mission which she loved and was extremely grateful for the opportunity to serve.
Nicole is survived by her parents, her brother Christian and his wife Amanda, Riverview, FL, grandmother Janet Carlston, Salt Lake City. She is preceded in death by paternal grandfather, William W Carlston and maternal grandparents, Gerald L and G. Victoria Wallace Pinder and many other relatives.
Funeral services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2198 West Foxtrail Drive Lehi, UT 84043 at 10 am on November 23, 2019, with a viewing 1 hr prior and a viewing Fri Nov 22, 2019, at the same location from 6-8 pm.
Burial services will be held at Monroe City Cemetery, Monroe, UT following the funeral.
