

Hope Hortin was born November 9. 1924 in Kamas, Utah to Curtis Reese Lewis and Lucille Lewis. She grew up in Kamas valley and graduated from South Summit High School. Upon graduation, during WWII, she moved to Salt Lake City to attend the University of Utah and study accounting. She married E. Dale Hortin in the Logan Temple, on August 7, 1944. They moved into their home in Sugarhouse in 1949 where Hope continued to live for 65 years. She faithfully and quietly served in her LDS ward in the Relief Society and Primary over the years. Hope also provided care for her daughter Tyleen for 67 years.
Hope enjoyed quilting, traveling with Dad and Tyleen in the motorhome, and family reunions in Kamas. She worked for years as a bookkeeper.
Hope was preceded in death by her husband, E. Dale Hortin. She is survived by her sisters Arna Harding and Glenna Gay Coombs (Robert) and her three children Tyleen Hortin, Ronda Cottle (Mike), Chadly Dale Hortin (Suzanne), her grandchildren, Michelle Cottle Dahl (Travis), Alex Cottle, Brian Dale Hortin (Ariel), their two daughters, Emily Virginia and Megan Hope; Melanie Fox (Mike) and their daughter, Colette; Jillian Hope Hortin (Rhett Hamilton), and Curtis Jacob Hortin.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 21, 2014, 11:00 AM at the Mountain View Ward House, 1400 South 1900 East, SLC. A viewing will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Drive, SLC and from 9:45 to 10:45 AM prior to services at the church. Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
