

Norman Dale Johnson passed away peacefully at home on Monday, November 17, 2014. Born June 26, 1921 in Salt Lake City to Norman Moroni Johnson and Pearl Tripp Johnson. He attended South High & Utah State Agricultural College. Dale was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War, serving in the US Navy for 5 years. In 1942 he began flying as a Naval Aviation Cadet, served with Commandant Twelfth Naval District and the Commander Air Pacific Fleet.
He was a gifted salesman and marketer for the Maytag Company for 21 years and was a true entrepreneur with many other businesses in Utah.
He was an avid golfer, tennis player and skier, and he loved to write, authoring several published animal stories.
Dale married Dorothy Lane in 1944 and had a daughter Jennifer Marie. They later divorced.
He married Marillyn Barker Edwards in 1961 and enjoyed 52 years of marriage with her and her two children, Jeff and Wendy.
Dale was an active member of the LDS Church as a high priest and was a devoted worker at the Jordan River Temple.
Dale is survived by brother Duane Johnson (Nancy), Knoxville, TN; brother Kenneth Johnson (Dorothy), Racine, WI; wife Marillyn, his daughter Jennifer Johnson McPherson (Tom), Portland, OR; son Jeffery Barker Edwards (Karamea), Salt Lake City; daughter Wendy Edwards Arnold (David), Sandy; 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by brothers Donald and Jay Johnson.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 22 at 1200 noon at the LDS Cottonwood 14th Ward, 2080 E 5165 South, Salt Lake City. A viewing will be held on Friday, Nov 21 from 600-800 pm at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Drive and on Saturday, Nov 22 from 1030-1145 am at the ward.
