Patrick Woodruff Moyes

On November 26, 2024, Patrick Woodruff Moyes, sweet husband, best daddy, and treasured son, nephew, brother, uncle, and friend passed peacefully in his home holding the hand of his precious wife at the age of 47.

Patrick was born in Portland, Oregon on November 19, 1977 and placed in the loving arms of his parents, Spencer and Elva Moyes. Patrick was raised in Murray, Utah, with his older brother, Rob and younger sister, Mckenzi. Patrick was an amazing son, brother, and nephew who was funny, caring, and loving. He was always attentive to his family when they needed him. They enjoyed time spent as a family in St. George, Lake Powell, and riding motorcycles. Their favorite activity as a family was supporting their Utah Utes! They loved attending games and tailgating. Patrick lived and breathed Utes and became their biggest fan!

Growing up he was an extremely happy boy. Patrick was a great friend to everyone and made them easily throughout his life. Patrick enjoyed creating memories with the “Gang on Darby Circle” and never fearing a challenge was often found on his bike and skiing. Patrick loved scouting like his dad and was an adorable Cub Scout. He continued with scouting and was proud to earn and become an Eagle Scout.

Patrick attended Twin Peaks Elementary School, Bonneville Jr. High, and Cottonwood High School. He was incredibly talented academically and musically. He earned the best grades and seemed to easily navigate his education. He played football and was the strongest and fastest on the field. Patrick was a friend to all and made lifelong friends called the “Clann” whom he loved dearly, and who all considered Patrick their best friend.

After high school, Patrick sold his treasured Jeep to serve a mission in Tennessee for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Upon his return, he continued his education at the University of Utah earning a Bachelor's Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Hospitality, and later in life a Masters Degree in Tax and Accounting. He followed in his dear mother’s footsteps becoming a tax accountant, and was blessed to work together with his mother everyday for years in their accounting business.

The highlight reel of Patrick’s life began when he met Amie Jo Greene. They had an eternal soulmate connection from the very beginning. They enjoyed a sweet courtship and continued to build their amazing unbreakable bond. The Greene Family loved him immediately. When Amie’s dad met Patrick, he jokingly told Amie not to “screw it up!” It was easy to see what a great man Patrick was and how perfectly they fit together. Patrick loved Amie perfectly - he was loving, caring, and understanding, and was always putting her first. Patrick’s only concern in giving Amie his whole heart and last name was that she grew up in a BYU home and had no interest in football. Patrick told Amie he would love to marry her, but she had to be a Utes fan and she happily agreed! Patrick turned Amie into a devoted Utes fan and got her to go with him to games, even in the cold!

Patrick and Amie were married and sealed for eternity on August 29, 2008, in the Draper Utah Temple. Together - side by side, and hand in hand - they built a beautiful life together. They enjoyed traveling, camping, movie marathons, supporting their Utes, and late nights talking and snuggling on the couch watching their favorite shows.

Amie and Patrick understood early their celestial and eternal bond. Their initials perfectly reflected that so well. Patrick, P.M., and Amie, A.M., for the moon and the sun. Patrick and Amie’s happiness grew by leaps and bounds when their precious and treasured “stars” were finally born. The twins, Lux JoDe and Kyzer Patrick, were born on April 7, 2012. Patrick is an amazing and devoted dad. He taught Ky and Lux so much and they love him dearly. Patrick was a very hands-on dad, was always willing to help, loved Ky and Lux with everything he had, and taught them how to be an “example for good.”

Kyzer is his daddy’s Best Buddy. They had a nightly secret handshake and “Love you 3000” was spoken often. Kyzer inherited his dad’s musical talent and sings beautifully. Kyzer holds tight to his dad’s childhood bear that Ky named “Patty Bear.” We will always be able to feel a bit of Patrick when we get a hug from Kyzer because he gives the best hugs, just like his daddy.

Lux is her daddy’s Precious Girl. They loved “nuggles” and daddy-daughter dances. Lux shared his love of football and would always cheer for the NFL team he wanted to win. Lux also inherited her dad’s musical talent and can play the guitar just like him. We will always be able to feel him near when Lux cooks for us because she loves to cook just like her daddy.

Patrick loved his family with every part of him. They are everything to him. They know he will forever be an eternal part of the “Moyes4” and will always be with them during their nightly “1, 2, 3, Moyes4” cheer and will be watching down on them always. The precious and powerful impact he had on their lives will forever be a part of them and will be woven throughout their lives as they try to navigate this world until they are with him again eternally.

Patrick was a cancer warrior and gave everything to fight a rare form of skin cancer. Despite the extreme nature of his final days, Patrick faced this aggressive cancer with immense strength and resilience. We will miss Patrick’s kind and generous heart, his compassion and selflessness, his fierce Ute loyalty, his jokes that kept us laughing, his delicious cooking and best smoked meats, and the love and friendship you always felt when you were with him.

Patrick is survived by his precious and devoted wife, Amie Jo Greene Moyes, who fought side-by-side with him, and spent endless hours caring for her sweet Patrick; His Precious Girl, Lux Moyes and Best Buddy, Kyzer Moyes; His adoring mother, Elva Moyes; Brother, Robert Moyes; Sister, Mckenzi (Travis) Hilton; Aunt, Betty Keddington; Parents-in-law, DeR and Jolene Greene; siblings-in-law, Steven (Sharon) Greene, and JoDe (Matthew) Neer; nieces and nephews; the “Clann” and friends; all of who loved and adored Patrick.

He is preceded in death by his father, Spencer Moyes; grandparents; and friend Andrew Rossman.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, December 1st from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at 1250 East 4800 South, Murray Utah. (Casual dress - Utes attire welcome)

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 2nd, at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing from 10:00 a.m.-10:45 a.m. at the same location.
