Phyllis was a New Year baby, born on January 1, 1941, to proud parents Frank L and Carol Margaret Hamilton Doxford. Phyllis’s parents were foster parents to forty-six children over the years, so she had plenty of memories with other children although she had no siblings of her own. Phyllis graduated from West High School and then attended Westminster College of Nursing in conjunction with Weber State College and the University of Utah. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree. Phyllis joined the United States Air Force on November 1, 1966, as a Lieutenant and finished her service as a Captain on February 8, 1969. She went on to work as a nurse at the Veterans Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah until she retired. Phyllis loved to travel, and, in her travels, she collected dolls from all over the world. She also had a love for genealogy. Phyllis helped fill in gaps in her grandmother’s, Alice Jones Squire Doxford’s, genealogy (her father’s mother). Phyllis was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1990 her and her parents were endowed and sealed to one another in the Salt Lake Temple. Phyllis always thought of that as a great blessing since her mother passed away unexpectedly shortly after they went to the temple. She was preceded in death by her parents. Phyllis died on November 20, 2022.
