

Randarae Christensen Melville passed away peacefully on March 11, 2023, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Randa was born November 3rd, 1928, in Richfield Utah to Ida Belle Christensen, her father Randall having passed from pneumonia prior to her birth. Her earliest years were spent in Richfield, UT with her Auntie Amelia May and Uncle Ernest Arthur Nebeker. At the age of 7 she re-joined her mother and stepfather Christian LeRoy Buchanan in Venice Utah where she lived until she graduated from Richfield High School.
She furthered her education at the Branch Agricultural College (now Southern Utah University) in Cedar City, at Brigham Young University in Provo, and then at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City where she graduated with a degree in elementary education. She taught school early in her marriage in Salt Lake City and Logan, Utah. She met and fell in love with Robert Smith Melville. They eventually were married on June 17, 1949, in the Manti Utah Temple. Randa and Bob were blessed with 2 sons, Robert Chris and Bradley Rulon.
In 1966, Randa and her family moved to Bowling Green Kentucky where she lived for the next 44 years. She loved Bowling Green. She made many friends, enjoyed golf and bridge and many clubs with her husband and friends.
Bob passed away on June 10,1998, and eventually she returned to Salt Lake City Utah in August of 2010. In Salt Lake, she enjoyed and strengthened many of her old friendships and made many new friends, at Silver Sneakers, in various bridge groups and other places and traveling.
She was preceded in death by her father Randall Christensen, mother Ida Belle Christensen, stepfather Christian LeRoy Buchanan, sister Mary (Keith) Hooper and Thomas (June) Christensen, stepsister Afton (Horace) Whitbeck, stepbrother Duane (Anne) Buchanan and stepsister Iris (Ralph) Hafen.
Randa is survived by her son Robert (Rachel) Melville and Bradley (Valerie) Melville, 8 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren.
Services will be held on March 17 2023, at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park at 11:00 a.m. with visitation earlier from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow immediately after. A live feed will be available through www.wasatchlawn.com.
