Renee was born in St. George, Utah in the home of her aunt on March 27, 1931, to George Henry Olsen and Marie McMullin. Renee came into this world a little earlier than expected weighing only 3 pounds and for several months slept in a shoe box. She was raised in Leeds, Utah, with her three older sisters and two older brothers in a two-bedroom home with a white picket fence.
She attended school in the Leeds two-room schoolhouse and one year her older sister, Ione, was her teacher. She graduated from Dixie High School and went on to attend Dixie College. While attending college she spent three summers in Yellowstone National Park where she worked for the post office, Pryor’s Curios and the town offices in Mammoth. While there she lived with her sister, Maxine, whose husband worked for Yellowstone National Park.
She married Ross W. Anderson at the age of 24 and lived the life of a military wife with her two oldest children, Alan and Kathy being born on military bases. They settled in Bountiful, Utah, and two more children joined the family, Susan and Roger.
When Renee’s youngest child went to school, she worked at J. C. Penny in Bountiful. She then worked at Utah Power and Light and Lifecare Assisted Living in Bountiful.
Renee was widowed in 1989 and after retirement, she volunteered at Lakeview Hospital in Bountiful for 18 years as a ‘pink lady’. She also enjoyed many trips to St. George, Utah and California to visit her brothers and sisters.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Renee was known for her amazing homemade bread and was still grinding her own wheat and making whole wheat bread and lots of cookies until she moved to Creekside Assisted Living in Bountiful Utah in 2023. She loved to bake and try new recipes. The recipients of her baking wondered why she didn’t open her own bakery; it was that good! She was also an accomplished seamstress.
She was always quick to share her beautiful smile, rarely forgot a birthday, and never missed the opportunity to send a Thank You note.
Renee is survived by her four children, Alan (Natascha), Kathy Worrell (Larry), Susan Moon (Marion), and Roger; 9 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 1 great, great grandchild.
A graveside service will be held Friday, July 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Drive, Millcreek, UT with visitation from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service in the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel.
