

Richard was born July 16, 1935 to loving parents David Fullmer and Leila Harmison they instilled in him the values of hard work and devotion that guided his life. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, his beloved wife Marion, and his son Pieter and a granddaughter Leila Fullmer. He is survived by his children Paul (Heidi), Phillip (Davida), David (Rose), and Amy Howard; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Richard was a man of quiet strength and steady faith. A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served a mission in the Northeastern States—where he met Marion, the love of his life. They were sealed in the Salt Lake City, Temple. As a family served in Samoa, where he taught high school mathematics. His time there deepened his love for the Polynesian people, their food, and their culture. Throughout his life, he served faithfully in many church callings, including as a counselor in the Bishopric and as a Gospel Doctrine teacher, where his love for the scriptures shone through.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, volunteering to be a paratrooper and serving as an infantryman, clerk, and mechanic. His example of military service inspired his sons and two of his grandsons to follow in his footsteps and serve in the military.
Professionally, Richard worked in finance as a loan officer for Commercial Security Bank, Key Bank, and later as an auditor with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. His honesty and diligence earned the respect of colleagues and clients alike.
Richard was known for his kindness, his steady work ethic, and his love of gardening—especially growing tomatoes. He found joy in nurturing the earth and sharing its bounty with others. He was also a devoted son, faithfully visiting and caring for his mother every week until her passing.
Those who knew Richard will remember his gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and lifelong service to others. His influence will continue through the lives he touched and the example he set for his family and community.
A visitation will be held Thursday, October 23, 2025 from 6-8pm at the Rose Park Stake Center, 760 N. 1200 W. Salt Lake City, Utah. The funeral will be held on Friday October 24, 2025 at 11 am with a visitation from 9:30-10:45 am at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Mortuary, 3401 S Highland Drive, Millcreek, Utah. An inurnment will follow at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
