Our beautiful, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend passed away on March 30, 2022 at the age of 87, surrounded by her adoring family. We are all deeply heartbroken by her passing, but are immensely grateful that we have been blessed to have such a wonderful, kind woman in our lives.
Lois was born May 31, 1934 to Roma Pratt Farr and Milan A. Farr in Preston, Idaho. Their home was in Logan, Utah, but they were visiting with her grandmother in Preston when Lois was born. She was the oldest of three children and was a sweet sister to her two younger brothers, Ralph and Alan. Later in her childhood her family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where she had many friends and graduated from South High School.
After high school she married Richard Wilkes. Together they had three children, Rick, Lori and Kathy. They lived in West Jordan until Richard’s death in June of 1966.
On June 7, 1967 Lois married Blake Westwood, who was her devoted life partner, best friend, and eternal Love. Blake had a daughter, Donna, from a previous marriage. Blake and Lois had one more child, Lisa, and together they raised all five children. Blake and Lois were happily married for nearly 55 years. They shared many wonderful times together, going on vacations and having fun with their many friends and loved ones. They truly loved and took care of each other and enjoyed their life together.
Lois loved a good joke and always liked to lighten the mood by making people laugh. Bargain shopping, quilting, sewing, baking, candy making, writing poetry and watercolor painting were some of her talents and favorite pastimes. She also loved going to movies and lunch with her dear friends. Wherever she went there was sure to be a lot of love and laughter.
She was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and faithfully served in many callings, including an inner city mission for one year, where she and Blake helped many people and met some wonderful friends who they loved spending time with right up until her passing.
Family was always her number one priority. She loved having everyone at her home for Sunday dinner and birthday parties. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest pride and joy. If anyone ever needed a chocolate chip cookie, a sympathetic ear, a good meal, a few bucks, or a shoulder to cry on, Grandma Lois was the one to go to. She truly loved everyone and made sure to take good care of her neighbors and friends when they were sick, in need, or just lonely, by checking in on them and bringing them a meal or a treat. Nobody was a better example of compassion and kindness than she was, and everyone absolutely adored her. We all miss her beautiful smile and fun spirit so much.
Lois is survived by her loving husband, Blake Westwood, daughters Lori (Mitch) Westwood, Kathy (Evan) Case, Donna Hurst, and Lisa Westwood Lucas, thirteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren, and her brother, Alan Farr. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roma Pratt Farr and Milan A. Farr, brother Ralph Farr, and son Richard Wilkes.
