Ronald James Reaveley

On September 22nd 2026 Ron returned to the presence of his Father in Heaven. He was born July 3, 1941 in Rock Springs, Wyoming, the third of 3 sons, to Clyde Weston Reaveley and Evelyn Verlie May. He married Carolyn Clark in 1959 and was later sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on February 1, 1961.

Ron was raised in East Millcreek, Utah and attended Olympus High School where he participated in multiple sports, received a good education, made many lifelong friends and met his future wife, Carolyn. Ron graduated from the University of Utah in the Department of Civil Engineering with a BSCE in 1964 and a MECE in 1971.

Ron became a licensed Professional Engineer in Utah in 1968 and started his own structural consulting engineering firm, Reaveley Engineers + Assoc., in 1972 which became one of the largest and highly respected firms in the Intermountain West. Ron greatly enjoyed the business of structural engineering design of buildings where he and his associates were responsible for many notable projects throughout Utah and the surrounding states.

Ron had the opportunity to serve in many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints starting with Deacons Quorum Advisor, Scoutmaster to 35 rambunctious boys for 4 years, Elders Quorum President, Member of Ward Bishopric, High Priest Group Leader, etc.

Ron enjoyed multiple sports including church and recreation basketball into his early 50’s. He ventured into “dirt bike” motorcycling because of his eldest son, John’s, interest. The family acquired a large trailer and up to 8 Honda 2, 3, and 4 wheeled machines to enjoy and explore the wonders of rural Utah together. The family got into a joint-venture with his brother on a Condo at Sweetwater, Bear Lake Utah where they spent countless hours boating, exploring, snow/water skiing, and building enduring family experiences.

Ron’s first eternal companion, Carolyn passed away Oct. 2014 after a 55 year loving marriage. Three years later, Ron married Laura Dee Newren in the Salt Lake Temple.

Ron is survived by his sweet and loving wife, Laura, daughter Lorianne (John) Martineau, 15 grandkids, and 19 great-grandkids. Ron was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn; sons, John, Dan, and Douglas and his daughter Marianne (Clay) Mills and his beloved brother Joe Reaveley.

Funeral services will be held October 1st 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Valley View Stake Center, 2275 East 3900 South, Millcreek, Utah, with a prior viewing from 10:00 am till 11:30 a.m.
