Rose-Marie Henderson passed away peacefully on November 29, 2022 in Orem, UT. She was the daughter of Erling Steen-Nielssen and Cynthia Mabel Parks and was born in Cape Town, South Africa on December 13, 1937. Rose-Marie had six siblings that were also born in South Africa. She graduated from high school in Cape Town and then attended a business school to learn typing and shorthand. She worked as a secretary for an insurance company in Durban.
Rose-Marie joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at age 10 and served a mission in and around Johannesburg, South Africa. It was in South Africa that she met Douglas James Henderson. After her mission she immigrated to North America and they were married in the Salt Lake Temple in 1960. She loved her family and was proud of them. They had three daughters, Barbara Davis (Rod) of Orem, UT, Dianne Lowrey (Bill) of Morgan Hill, CA and Sharon Matt (Ed) of Park City, UT. Rose-Marie was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Douglas and is survived by her children, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren with one more on the way.
Rose-Marie enjoyed playing tennis when she was young. She also loved to read, sew, tole paint, knit and crochet. She especially loved dogs and had many over the years. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a Relief Society President, Primary President and temple worker. She also traveled and lived all over the world with her children and husband who was a well-known physicist and international leader in the theory of liquids. They traveled to many places such as Australia, France, Turkey, Mexico, Japan, Canada and Antarctica.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of Summerfield Retirement and Envision Home Health and Hospice for the care given to our mother. A viewing will be held at 10 am followed by funeral services and interment at 11 am on Monday, December 19, 2022 at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary at 3401 South Highland Drive, Millcreek, UT.
