Ruth was the 10th of 11 children born to Lawrence Robertson Derbidge and Ruth Hannah Armstrong Derbidge. She was born in the family's State Street home in South Salt Lake on January 30, 1928. She has been honored to be recognized as the family Matriarch for many years by her nieces and nephews.
She married Harold Lewis Robison, a war veteran, on March 15,1950. Their marriage solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple in 1961. Ruth and Harold worked together and dedicated their lives to serve and support family, friends, community, and each other. Harold passed away in February 2014.
Ruth attended Madison School and Granite High. World War II started while Ruth was in high school and she opted to go into the workforce and finish high school at night, thereafter, she completed a business degree at the LDS Business College.
Ruth was an amazing homemaker, and participated regularly in local elections and for several years served as a staff member when the legislature was in session. She loved working with the representatives and especially loved the busy pace of being the docket clerk.
Ruth's pure joy and enthusiasm set the mood for many celebrations and gatherings. She loves the Gospel of Jesus Christ and was a true Latter Day Saint. Ruth was persistent and dependable and served faithfully in her church callings and truly loved those she was privileged to work with and serve. Among her many callings, she loved working in the Temple, and in the Relief Society where she served as President. She especially loved the Primary and her time as President, where she was called to lead the boys program. Ruth was a peacemaker and she developed a great capacity to love and support others while on this Earth, and this astounding talent goes forth with her.
She is survived by her three children, Debra Lynn Sweat, Cynthia Robison, and Chad Derbidge Robison; grandchildren: Scott Lawrence Jackson (Lori) 11 great grandchildren; Joseph Dallas Jackson (Le); Angie Wheeler (Nate) three-great grandchildren and four-great-great-grandchildren; Jacob Lewis Jackson (Amanda) 2-great-grandchildren; Thomas J. Jackson; another three-great-grandchildren precede her in death; and she is survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.
There will be a viewing on June 13, 2024, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Drive, Milcreek, Utah.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 14, 2024, at 11 a.m., Cottonwood 2nd Ward, 2080 East 5165 South (Donelson Lane, just off Highland Drive), Holladay, Utah. A short viewing will be held prior to chapel services from 10 to 10:30 a.m.
Family and friends can gather for the dedication at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park at 12:30 p.m. Enter at the 3300 South entrance and turn west.
