Our beloved Sally passed on November 2nd, 2024. Sally Jane Linford Kramer was born on January 20th, 1948, in Logan, Utah, as the fourth child to Cyril Albert Linford and Mary Gaddie Linford. Sally peacefully crossed the veil surrounded by loving family. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Julie Elizabeth, niece Holly Sue Linford, grandparents, brother-in-law Mike Croft, and many dear friends. We are sure that her father, mother, and big sister were waiting to carry her over to the next life.
Sally was raised on her paternal grandfather’s farm in Garland, Utah, helping her parents with chores, and always kept a part of country with her. She was a voracious reader her whole life and an excellent pianist. She graduated from Bear River High School (1966), received a Bachelors of Science from Utah State University, and a Master’s degree from Brigham Young University (the lessor blue), but stayed a faithful Aggie. Sally received her pilots license in Ogden, Utah. Sally was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various church positions including Relief Society President.
Sally’s life work centered around teaching and helping other people. She was a middle school teacher of English, speech, speed-reading, and drama for many years at Box Elder Middle School, went on to become a school counselor, and the Special Ed District Counselor for Box Elder County. Sally was a therapist focusing on family and often took on the toughest of cases. She received Utah’s Counselor of the Year Award, which states: “In recognition of many years of outstanding service as a counselor to youth.” Sally was an advocate for everyone her entire life.
Sally, a self-proclaimed “people person,” had many lifelong friends and they had joyous adventures, always laughing and making sure everyone was having a grand time. Sally loved “outings.” She met Geraldine (aka Geri) Bates Pezely in college and they would meet for lunch often. She and Ginger Rhes would prowl Bear Lake and giggle all over town. On one of her adventures, Sally was cross-country skiing and got turned around; thanks to Jeanne Babcock she was rescued by the sheriff! These close friends have all passed and we are sure they have had a momentous reunion with Sally and are back at having fun (or raising hell) together. Jaylene Greenwell and Sally were renowned for their Christmas candy. She had many other wonderful friends including Micky Oldenwalder, Marilyn Keyes, Tom Babcock, Jeanne Bingham, Gerald (aka Jerry) Pezely, Merrill Greenwell, Lamar and Mary Lee Taylor, Laurie and Ken Byington, Ron and Jacquie VanBeekum, and last but certainly not least, Doris and Charlie Stock. We are so grateful to each and everyone of these dear friends for sharing laughs, meals, and their time over the years with Sally.
Sally met her eternal partner Steve through Geri and Jerry Pezely, and started another life adventure becoming the bonus mom to four very lucky kids. Steve and Sally were sealed in the Logan Temple on February 15th, 1992, and they shared nearly 33 years happily together. Sally had an impact on each of her kids lives in different ways, and we all came to know and love her as the best bonus mom. Her grandkids, nieces, nephews, and extended family loved coming over for cookies, movies, and sleep overs with their favorite Aunt.
She is survived by her husband Steve (Sidney Stephen) Kramer; siblings James (Deana) Linford, Susan Croft, Mary Lee (Dean) Anderson; children Mike (Natalie) Kramer, Scott (Beth) Kramer, Julie (Jonathan) Kramer; chosen family Melanie (Clint) McIntosh and Mike (Tracy) Fairbourn; and grandsons Jonathyn (Zoë), Anthony (Sara), Kaden, Austin, Colton, Ashton, and Aiden.
We love you Sally, to the Moon and back. Families are like trees, ever branching out in different directions. As Sal was fond of saying, “Off to another adventure!”
