On July 3,1943 our beautiful wife, mom, grandma and sister blessed her parents John E. Cameron Sr. and Hilda Elizabeth Fairclough with their only daughter. On that same day she made John a big brother. Together they had many adventures. 3 years later she became a big sister to Kent, her “baby brother,” a job she took seriously. The three of them had a bond and friendship that was full of love and support.
Mom married her soul mate on November 27, 1968. They shared many beautiful years together, creating a legacy that would last forever. Who knew, a date that neither of them wanted to go on, would develop into a love and partnership that is worth modeling.
Mom graduated from East High School and attended SLCC. She worked for the Utah Department of Oil and Gas. She thoroughly enjoyed her time there. In May of ‘73 being a mom became her new full time job and career.
Mom made her children her world. Everything she did revolved around their school, extra curricular activities, and their dreams. Mom put all of her time and energy into PTA, Boy and Girl Scouts, Jobs Daughters, music performances, food competitions and everything in between. Susie made her a Mom. David completed her heart. The joke was always that he was the favorite child, but in reality both of them were. She made sure their strengths always shined bright. There wasn’t a catering job, service project or crazy idea that didn’t have mom right there in the trenches helping to make it a success.
In 2001 she became a Grandma and the world she thought was perfect as a mom was surpassed. Being a grandparent fit her perfectly. Her grandchildren stole her heart and her time. Nothing came before them. She didn’t miss a horse show. lacrosse/football game, or cheer competition. Her car was running here, there and everywhere making sure she covered all the bases. She was a Nama to Olivia (Livie Lou) and Ella (Ella Bella Boo), a Grams to Austin (Budah Boy) and Grammy to Mikala (Mickey Moo). She loved them with all that she was and they knew she was never more than a call away. She was not only their grandma but their sounding board, trusted friend, biggest fan and voice of reason.
She was the proud bonus mom to many. Nick, James, and Sharyn had a special place in her heart, but the two that she found she couldn’t live without were her Rob and her Jamie. They stole the hearts of her children, and she made sure they knew they had her heart as well. She embraced them with all the love and compassion she had for her own children.
Her heaven on earth was the property she and dad owned with her brother and sister in law John and Linda. Together they spent weekends with their four kids Susie, David, Kevin and Eddie. Those days developed the kids, created a love between them that is immeasurable. They weren’t only family, they were brothers and sister. Mom loved Kevin and Eddie like her own children and celebrated them as much as her kids. When they married the love of their lives, Meredith and Michelle became hers as well. Her great nieces and nephew, Kiara, Maddie, Paige and Colin became a top priority.
She loved animals big and small. She was an advocate for all animals, insects, and rodents. It hurt her heart to hurt anything living. She saved many spiders, grasshoppers, box elder bugs and mice from being injured or killed.
If you needed a statistic, birthday, person's name, or any other fact she was the person to go to. She remembered it all.
Mom loved deeply and if you were lucky enough to be loved by her you know it is a treasure to hold forever.
Mom won the battle against kidney cancer on September 26, 2022. She didn’t get the win she wanted but we have a beautiful angel that will forever be with us.
She is survived by the love of her life Neal, her daughter Susie (Rob) her son David (Jamie), grandchildren Olivia, Ella, Austin and Mikala, her brothers John (Linda), Kent (Marcia), many nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, and best friends Georgia Wagneire and Maria Scarlet. She is preceded in death by her parents, many beloved pets, and dear friends.
