Our dear and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend, Sidney J. Mulcock, passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 8, 2023, after a life full of giving and caring for his family and friends. He was in his 83rd year and was enjoying life fully until his passing.
He was born June 1, 1940 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Albion C. Mulcock and Helen L. Mulcock living all his life in Salt Lake, attended Sherman Elementary, Olympus Jr. High School, and graduated from Olympus High School. He then immediately joined the Army Reserves and served six months of active duty, and upon returning home, he continued serving in the Reserves for another eight years where he attained the rank of Sergeant. After returning from active duty, he then attended the University of Utah, where he majored in business management and finance, and graduated from the University in 1964. At that time, he went to work for his father in the family business of real estate, appraising, property management, and the development of real estate investment properties. After the death of his father, he continued in his business with his wife, sons and daughter where he worked with his family managing the family real estate investments until his death. Sid had studied all aspects of real estate appraising and received membership in both the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers and in the Society of Real Estate Appraising. Being so involved in real estate, he was instrumental in the design, construction, development, and management of two Ivy Place shopping centers, three manufactured housing communities; and a residential gated community known as Wicklow Woods. And, more recently, he worked with his sons toward a long-range plan for the family properties in Herriman, Utah.
Beyond his personal interests, Sidney also served for many years on the Board of Directors of the Richards Memorial Medical Foundation, and on the Board of Directors for the homeowner's association of The Coronado Shores where he and his family had second home, which has been a place of great enjoyment for him and all his family for over 45 years. But it was on October 8, 1965, he married his sweetheart Patricia Ann Jorgensen and together they had three wonderful children whom they adored, treasured and looked out for all throughout their lives. Dad's greatest joy was his family; as throughout his life he dedicated himself to serving his wife, family and friends, and took great pleasure quietly serving his country, community, and helping others in need. He will always be remembered for his honesty and his giving and caring ways and he will be greatly missed as a great and wonderful example as a loyal faithful family man. His life to his friends and those who knew him was always one of hard work coupled with sincerity and dedication to accepting a job and completing it in a professional and timely manner. Over all the years, he took great pleasure in loving his many faithful puppy friends, his childhood years at Fish Lake, and his later years of traveling to Coronado, California, St. George, Utah, and to Flaming Gorge, where the family had homes where they all could gather together and have many wonderful experiences as a family.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patricia Ann Mulcock; children, Albion L. Mulcock, Christopher J. (Amy) Mulcock and Jennifer S. Hutchinson, Troy Hutchinson; and seven grandchildren; Abigail Ann, Elsie Lucille, and Chloe Helen Hutchinson, Christopher William and Charles Albert Mulcock, and Albion Sidney and Finley Lynn Mulcock all of Salt Lake City, Utah. In addition, he is survived by his two sisters, Patricia Lashley, and Susan J. (Bruce) Plott.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. at Wasatch Lawn Memorial, 3401 South Highland Dr., Salt Lake City, where the family gathered on November 10, 2023. Interment was at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park in the Memorial Grove. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a good cause of your choosing or to the plant a tree foundation.
