Tom was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Charles Henry Carter King and Lillian Alice Walker. In 1954 he married Arda Argyle. They spent nearly 42 wonderful years together, before her passing in 1996. During his life, he lived in many places, including Salt Lake City and St George, UT, Burbank, CA, Scottsdale and Mesa, AZ, and Houston, TX.
Tom was a very easy-going person. He was happy to do just about anything, from fishing, to golf, to playing Yahtzee. He enjoyed taking his family camping, along with the rest of the neighborhood. He and mom loved to dance. Together they hosted the rotating poker parties at their house. He was a very generous man, giving of his time or resources. If someone asked, he was there to help, even when he was not able. He loved his grandchildren, and his great grandchildren, and never stopped raving about any accomplishments, big or small. It was especially important to him to save his pennies to give to the little ones. And of course, it goes without saying, he loved his wife like no other.
Tom is survived by sons Michael (Dayle) of Broken Arrow, OK; Kerry (Hyon Ok) of Ogden, UT; Nancy Kenney of Orem, UT; grandchildren Erin Barnett, Brendan and Jordan Kenney, Sean, Sara, and Joe King, Ben Peterson, and Tracey Brown; great-grandchildren Isaac, Bridget, and Scarlet Barnett, Chloe and Aluna King, and Weston and Brixton Peterson. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Harold, Paul, Eugene, Robert, Gerald, and Nancy King, and Marilyn Reynolds, great-granddaughter Maeve Barnett, and his dear wife Arda.
Services will be held Friday, July 21, 2017, at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary, located at 3401 Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah.
