It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and Uncle, Tom Soter, who peacefully passed away at home on August 31, 2024. Tom's greatest joy in life was his family, and he completed his journey surrounded by those he cherished most.
Born with a passion for life and a love for sports, Tom shone brightly on the gridiron, playing football for Cyprus High School and Westminster College. It was at Westminster where he met the love of his life, Janice, beginning a beautiful chapter that would last a lifetime. Tom and Janice were married on September 20, 1959, marking the start of a new and exciting journey together.
Tom set the gold standard for what it means to be a family man. He was strong, yet loving, a pillar of strength who led by example until his final days. His love for travel and adventure was evident in the many cruises with friends and vacations with his family, particularly their cherished week-long stays in Cayucos. He found joy in simple pleasures, like dining at his and Janice’s favorite restaurant, camping in the mountains, and embarking on hunting trips with his boys. Whether he was boating, driving the old Willys Jeep down a steep hill to retrieve a deer, or simply soaking up the heat in Vegas with a glass of champagne at a family brunch, Tom made the most of every moment.
Above all, Tom adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His home was always stocked with their favorite treats—iced oatmeal cookies, ice cream, and yellow chips—ensuring that each visit was filled with love and sweetness.
Tom Soter leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and family devotion. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to be part of his life.
Tom was adored by his family. His wife Janice (deceased) Children, Tricia (Mike) Ross, Mike (Holly) Soter, Jamie Soter, Tommy (Syd) Soter, along with 12 Grandkids and 13 Great Grandkids. And his beloved babies Gunner and Charlie.
An evening viewing for Thomas will be held Tuesday, September 3, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S Highland Drive, Millcreek, Utah 84106.
