Tyler Gene Olpin

Tyler was born the fourth of five children in Murray, Utah, to Jack and Irene Olpin, on October 22, 1963.

Tyler spent much of his youth in California and often spoke of memories in Fresno, life on the beach in Carlsbad, and picking avocados alongside his favorite dog, Tundra, in Fallbrook, North County San Diego.

Tyler attended Fallbrook Union High School and was a talented trumpet player in the Marching and Jazz bands. Upon graduation and with scholarships in hand, Tyler began his college career at the University of California Berkeley focusing on literature and writing. He loved living on campus in the famed Bowels Hall and is a Naming Donor, supporting the Bowles Hall Student Fellowship.

Tyer started his legal career at the University of California Hastings, now UC Law San Francisco. With his Juris Doctorate in tow, Tyler was welcomed by Burnam Brown, a prominent law firm in Oakland, California. Tyler continued practicing law with several distinguished law firms over the span of his legal career.

Tyler was an avid surfer and often stated, “I found my Zen amongst the waves.” He loved the ocean and beaches and frequently shared cherished memories of an excursion with his father, Jack, and brother, Todd, to Hawaii. He enjoyed skiing with his brothers Scott and Kit and bonded with friends on the slopes of Deer Valley.

Tyler loved spending holidays with his best friend, Cliff Snow, and his family. He always looked forward to taking his adopted nieces and nephews trick-or-treating while dressed as Superman, roasting turkeys with Cliff for Thanksgiving, and opening Christmas presents with the Snows. Tyler never missed a birthday or family dinner and always gave the most thoughtful and precious gift, his time.

He continued to write, authoring two screenplays, Fake I.D. and Goat Cheese, and a book, titled Dropping In.

Beyond his accomplishments, Tyler remained a devoted son, adored brother, favorite uncle, and cherished friend. He will always be remembered for his kind heart

Tyler is survived by his beloved older sister, Kimber Lynne Olpin, and younger brother, Christopher (Kit) Jon Olpin. He was preceded in death by his loving Mother and Father, as well as brothers, Kevin Todd Olpin and Gordon Scott Olpin.
