2/25/25 – 5/21/12
Born February 25, 1925, in Bancroft, Idaho as the first born of Wendell and Pearl Jacobson. After 17 years in Bancroft, she struck out on her own to work at Hill Air Force Base during WWII where she met and married Thomas Fitzsimmons, a trumpet playing Army Aircorpman.
After WWII, they moved to New York City where son Robert was born; later moving to Chicago with Tom’s growing music career, where both daughters Terri and Catherine were born. In Chicago Verl became a successful real estate broker in the North Shore area of suburban Chicago.
Her return to the West in 1974 to Salt Lake City resulted in her affiliation with Eagar and Co. Real Estate where she excelled in many aspects of real estate both as a successful salesperson and a Relocation Specialist. Her leadership and popularity made her well respected within the membership of the Salt Lake Board of Realtors. Verl loved people, serving them loyally and compently. Her personality and independent spirit will be missed by all who knew her.
As a member of the LDS Church, she assimilated the practical teachings of her church in her daily associations; always dealing honestly and forthrightly with all.
She is survived by her children Robert, Terri (Mike) Mundorff and Catherine (Verl) Tidwell, grandson Brian Tidwell, sisters Colleen and Diane and her brother Ben. Preceded in death by beloved brother Owen and grandson Daniel Tidwell, both of which she is now happily reunited.
