Vivian Marlene Wiman-Silvring transitioned peacefully on Tuesday, November 5th, in Holladay, Utah. Born on March 6, 1933, in Stockholm, Sweden, to Majken and Eric Silvring, Vivian’s journey was a tapestry of love, resilience, and family.
Vivian began her career as a dental assistant in Stockholm, a role she took great pride in. At age 24, she met her soulmate, Gustav Wiman. They married in 1957 and were later sealed in the Bern, Switzerland Temple in 1961, a testament to their enduring faith. The couple welcomed their first child, Richard Ulf, in 1958, followed by Caroline Elizabeth in 1962.
Stockholm was a beautiful backdrop for their young family, filled with summers in the Swedish countryside and trips to other European cities. After over a decade together in Stockholm, the family moved to Holladay, Utah, in 1972. There, Vivian quickly established deep, lasting friendships, especially with her best friend Lugene, who predeceased her. Vivian’s infectious kindness and playful spirit endeared her to all, leaving an impact that her friends and family will always cherish.
As a grandmother, Vivian’s warmth was unmatched. She was known for her frequent visits to Great Harvest Bakery to buy the beloved “Mormor’s bread” and make sandwiches her grandchildren adored. Her sense of humor and joy brought light to every family gathering, making each visit memorable.
Vivian bravely faced Multiple Sclerosis for most of her life, yet remained active, especially in her garden—a passion she shared with Gustav and Caroline. Her optimism and determination to cultivate beauty around her, despite the challenges of her illness, were a source of inspiration for her family and friends.
In her later years, Vivian found a loving community at Sunrise Retirement, where her lively spirit and warmth continued to uplift those around her. Her smile became a beloved presence, and her memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege to know her.
As her son, Ulf, reflects, “In closing the final chapter of my mother’s life, I am filled with grief but mostly with gratitude. My wife and I called her daily, often early in the morning, and each conversation enriched us with her insights, love, and strength. She was the most loyal and kind person I’ve ever known. Through every moment, she stood by my father, Karolin, and me, unwavering in her support.
Mom, my friend, my doctor, my counselor, thank you. I know you have joined Dad in Abba Father’s embrace, and I pray you look down with a smile. My life is devoted to honoring God, my wife, you, and Dad. Until we meet again, know you remain deeply cherished in my heart.”
Vivian’s life was a legacy of love, strength, and faith. She leaves behind a family and friends whose lives were brighter for having known her. She will be forever missed and lovingly remembered.
