Yvonne was raised in Bountiful Utah by her parents Arvid and LaVern Wahlen. She worked as a nurses aid for LDS Hospital at 14 years old. She was an avid reader of classic literature, and loved the arts.
Yvonne served as an LDS missionary in the Stockholm, Sweden Mission, where she met her eternal husband and friend, Paul S. Quist. After their missions, Yvonne and Paul married in the Salt Lake Temple, on December 21, 1956. Together they had 6 children they raised in Holladay and Bluffdale, Utah.
Yvonne enjoyed the outdoors and nature, and loved to take many road trips with her husband and family. She loved gardening, and together with her family, kept horses, chickens, turkeys, rabbits, dogs, and cats, who Yvonne loved and treated as members of the family. Yvonne was an avid horseback rider for many years.
As a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Yvonne served as Relief Society President, Primary President, and in many other callings. She strived every day to love and care for her family, friends, and community.
Yvonne is loved dearly by so many, and will be greatly missed. We are comforted by a quote that she would say often, with a brave smile: “It will all be okay in the end. If it is not okay, it is not the end”.
Yvonne is preceded in death by her parents, Arvid and LaVern Wahlen, husband, Paul S. Quist, daughters, Elizabeth Dansie and Kerstin Quist, sisters, Mitzie Peterson, Sandra Westbrook, and Sherry Wahlen. She is survived by her children, Susan (Tracy)Thaxton, Paul (Miriam) Quist, Robert (Melanie) Quist, Katherine (Raj) Quist, sister, Arva Jansson, and brother, Arvid Wahlen; as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
